Robert Mott Thomas Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Mott Thomas, Sr., age 92, of Cartersville, formerly of Mableton passed away February 23, 2023. Bob was born to Mott and Julia Thomas in Bessemer City, NC, and graduated from Bessemer City High School. Shortly after graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force. He spent 22 years in service and retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. After his military service, Bob spent nearly two decades with Cobb Federal Savings and Loan, retiring as their Vice President.
Bob was a long-time member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church and was named Deacon Emeritus. He was also an active member of the South Cobb Lion’s Club since the early 1970’s.
Bob is preceded in death by his son, Robert Mott Thomas, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Thomas; son, Larry Thomas (wife, Terri) of Acworth; siblings, Jean Pearson of Boca Raton, FL and Jerry Thomas of Hamlet, NC; grandchildren, Morgan Prezzano (husband, Jarryd) and Lauren Prezzano (husband, Taylor); great-grandchildren, Jaydon Prezzano, Kingston Prezzano, Giuliana Prezzano, and Elliana Prezzano; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 7th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Randal Whitten and Pastor Tony Ashmore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.
Interment will occur on Wednesday, March 8th, 10:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund at 561 Veterans Memorial Hwy SE, Mableton, GA 30126, or the South Cobb Lion’s Club, PO Box 7, Mableton, GA 30126.
