Robert Mullin's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Mullin, 73, of Dallas , Georgia , died of natural causes on January 16, 2011. Born to James A. and Lulumae Mullin in Brooklyn , NY , Bob served for 27 years in the US Army as an Infantry and Public Affairs Officer, receiving numerous distinctions and badges, including two Bronze Star Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, five Vietnam Service Medals and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, among many others. Bob retired in 1986 and has since called Georgia his home. Bob received his Masters in US History from Auburn University , and his undergraduate degree from Niagara University . Those who know him know of his love of sports (baseball, and the Braves most particularly!) and enjoyment of lively debate. He will be remembered for his commanding presence, his compassion for animals (rescuing and caring for orphan cats and generously contributing to charities supporting both animals and the environment), the simplicity of his personal needs, and for the love and generosity he showed towards his children and grandchildren. Bob is survived by his long-term partner, Kathleen Austin, of Dallas , Georgia , his son Robert Mullin, Jr., of Victor , Idaho , and his daughter, Kimberly Mullin Van Savage of Acton , Massachusetts; Sister, Mary Lou Weis of Loveland, Ohio .
A ceremony and interment will take place in the spring at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington , Va.
