Robert Wesley Landrum's Obituary
Robert Wesley Landrum, age 78, of Austell died on August 26, 2024. He was born in Austell, GA. Robert graduated from South Cobb High School in 1963. He worked summers at Brown Transport to earn money so he could continue his education at the University of Georgia. He was one quarter short of getting his degree and always regretted that he did not graduate.
He met his wife, Carolyn, on a blind date on July 4th, 1968. They became engaged on Christmas Day that year and were married on April 5, 1969. They were married for 55 years.
Robert worked several jobs through the years. He owned and ran the Standard Oil Gas Station at the corner of Gordon Road (now Mableton Parkway) and Old Powder Springs for a couple of years. Then he owned and ran the Chevron Gas Station at the intersection of I-20 and Lee Road in Lithia Springs for many years. Later he spent several years at Church & Tower, a Georgia company that planned and installed infrastructure for utility companies. For a few years he worked with his brother, Phillip, repairing shopping carts at various grocery store chains in Georgia. Another year or two he spent working for a company doing tree work. After working for Ansco and Associates, LLC, first in their Lithia Springs office, then in the Marietta office, he retired after 25+ years.
Until his health would no longer allow it, he enjoyed fishing, football (especially UGA football), golf and gardening (mostly vegetables). He also enjoyed collecting coins for many years right up to his death.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sarah Stroud Landrum; sister, Joyce Rutherford Murray; sister, Carole Landrum McDuffie; and brother, D. Frank (Buddy) Landrum.
