He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Eleanor Heysel Easton, spirited grandson, Timothy Lannon Easton and dear sisters, Sally Easton Newman and Stella Easton Mocas. Bob’s seven children will miss his quick wit, generous spirit, love of golf and fishing, and profound intellect. His deep appreciation of music and the arts lives on through his children and extended family: Robert Poinier Easton, III (wife, Mary), Susan Easton Burns (husband, Mark), David Sherwin Easton (wife, Linda), Jane Easton Smith (husband, Jeff), James Conde Easton (wife, Michelle), John Christopher Easton (wife, Tricia) and Timothy Edward Easton. Bob is also survived by his brother, Peter Sherwin Easton, 12 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. He valued time with family above all and reveled in the annual gatherings which invariably featured music from the band he created, his children.
Born in 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, to Stella Sherwin Easton and Robert Poinier Easton, Sr., who instilled in Bob a great appreciation for the arts and the outdoors at a young age. A passionate and enthusiastic traveler, Bob celebrated nature throughout his life. From deer hunting in Saskatchewan to golfing in Dubai with his beloved brother-in-law, Jimmy Heysel, to King Salmon fishing in Alaska with family, an adventure a day was truly Bob’s motto. A skilled and avid fly fisherman, when Bob was not on an adventure, he could be found tying flies in preparation for the next outing. He attended Cornell University and earned his MBA from Niagara University. He started his employment as a Chemist for Titanium Corporation and enjoyed a 30-year career in corporate finance at Curtiss- Wright Corporation of New York and the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company of Akron, retiring as a respected Officer of Goodyear. One of the many highlights of his career was living and working in Tokyo for three years in the 1970’s and he would enthusiastically share tales of the learned customs and culture.
A devoted husband and genial teacher, Bob’s adventurous spirit will long be remembered and missed.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Eunice Nwosu for her loving care and attendance to their father in his final peaceful days.
