Richard Alan Young's Obituary
Richard Young, age 85, of Austell passed away on February 22, 2017. He was born February 9, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Jennie Abbenga Young and Emerick Robert Young. Richard served as a finance officer in the U.S. Army in Korea, and retired from McKenneys, Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs, where he at various times served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. At Presbyterian Village, where the Youngs resided for the past three years, he was a member of the Presbyterian Village choir. He is survived by his wife Frances Taylor Young; his daughter, Sandra Mundy; son, Newell Young; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his sister, Sharon Janssen. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. The family will greet friends before and after the memorial service to be held at the Presbyterian Village Center on March 5 at 3:00 PM. Interment will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, Monday, March 6th, 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caring Hands Fund, Presbyterian Homes of GA., PO Box 957267, Duluth, GA 30095, or to Gideons International, PO Box 274, Lithia Springs, GA 30122.
