Richard Lee Tidwell's Obituary
Richard Lee Tidwell, age 81, of Temple passed away November 18, 2022. Richard was born in Atlanta to Hugh Lee and Mary Jeanette Tidwell, and he grew up in Austell where he graduated from South Cobb High School. Richard was a proud Air Force veteran and fiercely patriotic. He was a member of the American Legion in Mableton and enjoyed hanging out with his Legion buddies. Richard loved to travel and visit the casino with his wife. He also loved spending time in the great outdoors and hunting deer. He was a beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, and friend.
Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sylvia Tidwell; children, Vicki Zabawa (husband, Jerry) of Lithia Springs, and Ricky Tidwell of Austell; step-sons, Scott Smith (wife, Chris) of Douglasville and Christopher Smith (wife, Michele) of Marietta; grandchildren, Brandy Priest, Candi Florence, Kristin Mullens, Katie Chann, Brittany Smith, Joshua Smith, Kristen Mitchell (husband, Greg), Dylan Smith (wife, Ashlon), and Trevor Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; and many beloved extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Pastor Troy Hall officiating. Interment will follow the service at Davis Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM before the service.
