Richard Parker Cross' Obituary
Richard Parker Cross, age 80, of Austell passed away January 30, 2021.
Richard proudly served 6 years in the United States Air Force. A majority of his deployment was spent at Ramstein Air Force Base in Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany, where he installed electronic surveillance in a program called GEEIA (Ground Electronics Installation Agency). After his service, he worked for Sanders Associates in Nassua, NH as an electronic technician. In 1990, Richard moved to Austell and served as a software engineer on the C-130J program at Lockheed, and retired from there after 11 years of service.
Richard was also proud of his American lineage. He was a direct descent of Stephen Hopkins, one of the original pilgrims to land on Plymouth Rock.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Elizabeth Cross. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Anne Cross; children, Erika Cross MacDonald (husband, Jeffery) of Hollis, NH, and Aleksandrs Parker Cross (wife, Estelle) of Idaho Falls, ID; and grandchildren, Victoria Marie, Edouard, Erik, Adelaide, and Emma.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 3rd, 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM before the service.
A scattering of his ashes will occur at Georgia National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Richard’s name be made to the Patriot Guard at PO Box 2025, Toccoa, GA 30577-1437.
