Rhonda De'Mon's Obituary
On February 21, 1951, William Aldolphus Hutchins and Helen Juanita Hutchins became the proud parents of Ms. Rhonda Billyne Hutchins De’Mon. After devoting her life in service to others, Rhonda peacefully went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
Rhonda strived to do her best in all things. Throughout high school, she excelled in her classes, sang in the Advanced Mixed Chorus, and was a member of the National Honor Society and Drama Club. After graduating with honors on May 30, 1969 from Charles L. Harper School, Rhonda continued her studies and attended Spellman College. However, her desire to excel did not only apply to her academics but to her spiritual life as well.
In 1980, Rhonda accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and was filled by his Holy Spirit. Immediately, her life reflected her passion for Christ. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, she ministered and served those who were lost and in need. Her ministry extended past the church walls and overflowed into the streets. She not only spoke the Word of God, but she lived it by showing compassion to others as she fed and clothed them, visited prisoners, and served in women shelters.
She also fulfilled her ministry in the personal lives of her family and friends. She surrounded her children with love and was a surrogate mother to all her nieces and nephews. As a friend, she proved to be a true companion and confidant. Jesus said in Matthew 7:17, “...every good tree bears good fruit...” and Paul wrote in his letter to the church of Galatia, that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Rhonda’s life exemplified her belief of those scriptures, for they were clearly shown throughout her life. As one who could restore and grow any plant, she allowed the Lord to use her to restore and grow His children until He called her home to be with Him.
In addition to serving Christ, Ms. Rhonda De’Mon enjoyed baking, sewing, and scrapbooking. She was also an avid Jeopardy guru and movie connoisseur.
She was preceded in death by her father William A. Hutchins and her son Sol Brent Hutchins.
She leaves to cherish many precious memories: her mother Helen Jones; two children Misha Lynn Stewart and Ryan Frank De’Mon; granddaughters Nandi Lafaye Steele, Deja Symone Stewart, and DeAnna Tristan Stewart; one great-granddaughter Niveah Osei-Acheampong; siblings Theresa, Billy, Alex, Shad, and Vincent; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Home going service will be held on February 11th at 1:00pm at Davis-Struempf Funeral home in Austell, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until service time. davisstruempf.com
