Randolph Elrod Jr. 's Obituary
Mr. Randolph Elrod Jr, age 72 of Powder Springs passed away peacefully on November 5, 2019.
Mr. Elrod, known as “Junior” was born October 3, 1947 in Austell, Georgia. A local young man, skilled in carpentry, went on to serve our country during the Vietnam Era for the Navy Seabees. He married Virginia Irelan in 1969, and started a family blessed with two daughters. Junior spent most of his career working in the packaging industry as a machinery mechanic before retiring from Cadillac Products & Packaging in Dallas, GA.
Junior was a jack of all trades. He could build anything and fix everything else. He loved helping family and friends with any projects large or small. Junior enjoyed cooking, gardening and collecting coins and knives. His biggest passion was fishing. From Bass Club Tournaments, to the local catfish hole, it brought true happiness to his life. He had a funny sense of humor and was a friend to everyone.
The later years, his health and disability hindered him from some of those things but never his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Maggie Elrod, Sr. and sister, Brenda Gravely.
Mr. Randolph Elrod Jr. will be forever remembered by his loving wife, Virginia Elrod; daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Joel Thomason; Stacey and Ashley Osterholt; grandsons, Jathan, Mason, and Landon; brothers, Lawrence Elrod and Joey Elrod; sisters, Nancy Ralls and Frankie Darnell; many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
