Ralph Ligon Whitfield's Obituary
Ralph Ligon Whitfield, age 86, of Mableton passed away October 12, 2016. Ralph attended Oakdale Church of God and loved country music. In 1995, he retired from Mead Packing after working there for 25 years. Ralph is preceded in death just two short months ago by his wife of 68 years Mary Alma (Lee) Whitfield and son Donnie Whitfield (in December of 1997). He is survived by his five children, Lane (Wanda) Whitfield of Powder Springs, Kay (Larry) Bradford of Marietta, Marty (Wendy) Whitfield of Powder Springs, Keith Whitfield of Mableton, and Tony Whitfield of Lithia Springs; brother Dennis Whitfield of Greenville, SC; as well as 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Brian Downing and Rev. John Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Saturday service at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Hope Box (www.thehopebox.org).
