Patsy Irene Reynolds' Obituary
Patsy Irene Reynolds, 83, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on August 1, 2017.
Patsy was born in Mt. Vernon, Texas on July 10, 1934. She graduated from Vivian High School at the age of 15 and went on to attend Louisiana State University at the age of 16. She was a straight A student her entire life and was named one of LSU’s 50 most beautiful women as a freshman. She also competed in beauty pageants and was crowned Miss El Dorado in 1953. She was first runner up for the crown of Miss Arkansas. Her husband-to-be saw her in a parade featuring Miss El Dorado and said to his mother, “I’m going to marry that woman!”
Patsy married David Reynolds on September 4, 1954. They were married for 56 years.
Patsy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Southern State University in Magnolia, Arkansas where her husband was playing football on a scholarship. She went on to teach high school English and drama in Oklahoma, helping put her husband through law school.
Patsy enjoyed a lifelong love of gardening, decorating, travel, reading and art. As a part of that love, she served as a docent at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta for many years. Her beauty and wit will be sorely missed.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Reynolds, and her parents, John A. Dickson, Jr. and Helene Dickson. Patsy is survived by her three children, Davi Reynolds and husband Reid Sprenkel, Christi McEachern and husband Don, and Laura Reynolds-Werner and husband Tony Werner, as well as her 7 grandchildren: Jessica Sprenkel, Nathan Sprenkel, Austen Irene Werner, Reynolds Wehunt, Camren Rose Werner, Molly McEachern and Tripp McEachern. She is also survived by her two brothers, John A. Dickson, III and Scott Sewell Dickson.
