Patrick Lewis Nellis' Obituary
Patrick Lewis Nellis, age 63 of Austell passed away on November 7, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, sister, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends.
Patrick was known affectionately by family as #4. He was truly a numbers kind of guy—someone whose sayings and codes became legendary among family and friends. From “$5 for this” to “Code 8,” “911 Hot,” and his all-time favorite, “It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere,” Patrick brought a sense of fun and lightheartedness wherever he went.
A proud graduate of South Cobb High School, Patrick lived life with energy and adventure. He was an athlete through and through—playing football, soccer, wrestling, and softball, and running the Peachtree Road Race for many years. His competitive spirit was matched only by his enthusiasm for good times and great company.
Patrick’s activities reflected his love for people and friends: participating in countless chili cook-offs, hosting pool parties, being a proud member of the family’s “I Never Club” (a running inside joke), and the infamous “Griggs wannabe” team. He enjoyed beach vacations, and cabin getaways. Wherever he went, laughter and memories followed.
He loved to dance in his own unforgettable way—whether it was his signature zipper dance, his famous thumbs-up move, or his unique ability to pole dance on anything that even slightly resembled a pole.
Patrick explored many career paths, including working as a Certified Tower Crane Operator and CDL Driver.. His favorite hangouts included San Blast, Triple Tails, Indian Pass, and Eagle's Nest.
A gifted craftsman and artist, Patrick’s creativity shined in the handmade gifts he gave to others—canes, knives, and walking sticks, many crafted from deer antlers, and other works of art that carried his signature touch. If you were lucky enough to receive one, you knew it was made with heart.
Patrick’s generosity was unmatched. You never paid for a meal when he was around—he believed in paying it forward, often surprising strangers by picking up their tab. If he shared his Swiss Cake Rolls with you, that was the ultimate sign of love.
He was also an avid collector of jerseys, shot glasses, hot sauce bottles, coasters, coolers, and especially anything he could put wheels on. More than anything, Patrick collected moments—time spent with family and friends, usually with a cold beer in hand and a big smile on his face.
Patrick lived life full throttle, with laughter, generosity, and heart. His spirit will live on in the stories, jokes, and love shared by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
And in true Patrick fashion, he leaves us with one final message: “Don’t be hatin’—this Bud Light’s on me!”
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025 3:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service on Sunday from 12:00-3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Patrick’s name to the Shrine Hospital or a local animal shelter.
