Patricia Ann Southern's Obituary
Patricia Ann Leggett Southern passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2017. The daughter of Eli and Louise Leggett, Pat was born on June 5, 1940. A 1958 graduate of Asheboro High School, she went on to receive her degree from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. After college, she dedicated her life to being a teacher. She taught in many cities including the Cabbagetown neighborhood near Atlanta and eventually retired from Ramseur Elementary School in North Carolina after many years there. Pat loved gardening and hours in her yard made her the happiest. She was never without her lipstick and large tortoise shell sunglasses. She was a talented artist and had a wonderful sense of humor. Pat was a caring and devoted mom and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Weitzenkorn of Canton, her son in law, Bill and their two children Ben Leggett and Anna Kendall. She is also survived by her son William Abbott, Jr of Hiram, his wife Nicki and their daughter Lauren.
She also leaves behind her sister, Beth Johnson (Sparky) of Asheboro and brother Mark Leggett (Lee) of Charlotte, along with four nieces.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 9 at 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel in Austell with Rev. Chris Moore-Keish officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.

The family would like to thank Pat's caretakers at Presbyterian Village for their extraordinary care over the last six years and the staff at Tranquility Hospice for their loving care the last week of her life.
