Nellie Mae Cagle's Obituary
Nellie Mae Cagle, age 89 of Mableton, passed away surrounded by her family on April 28, 2026. Nellie was born in 1936 in Newburg, WV to the late Russell Ray Wolfe and Bessie Mae Powell Wolfe.
She is survived by her sons, Roger Carder, James Carder, and Tad Boomer.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Swayne Cagle; son, John (Rusty) Carder; sister, Anna Belle Shroyer; and brothers, Lester Ray Patton, Camden Leroy Wolfe, David Wolfe, and James Ray Wolfe.
Nellie worked as the office manager for the family septic and plumbing business for 35 years before retiring. She was the family matriarch and loved caring for her others. She had an amazing sense of humor and quick wit. She was more than happy to be the central figure in her children's lives. Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever mattered to her. She was well known and loved throughout the community for her amazing Christmas displays and holiday gatherings. Her favorite hobbies were working on puzzles, shopping, baking, and gardening.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, May 4, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
Her body will lie in state on Tuesday, May 5, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 2:00 PM with Reverend Darrell Johns officiating.
Entombment will occur at Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens following the service.
