Nancy Jean Verneau's Obituary
Nancy Jean Verneau, age 89, of Powder Springs, GA went to heaven on June 16, 2026.
She was born in Latrobe, PA, in 1936 to Walter Forsha and Estella Marks Forsha. Shortly after graduating from Latrobe High School, she married Wilford “Buzz” Nelson Verneau, Jr. They married on October 16th, 1954.
Nancy was an Army wife and mother of five. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, quilting, and crocheting. Nancy also found joy singing alto in her church choir.
While an introvert, Nancy easily made friends and never met a stranger. Her quiet nature endeared her to others, and she dearly loved to laugh. Nancy’s spirit of determination meant she never liked to ask for help, but she would do anything she could for others.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Wilford “Buzz” Verneau, Jr., and their daughter, Brenda.
She is survived by her children; Bruce (Deanna), Scott (Joy), Debra, and Kathy; grandchildren, Michelle (Kervin), Brad (Renee), Christa (Tim), Rebecca, Nicholas (Ashley), Tasha, and Caitie; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Savannah, Blake, Charlotte, Kathence, Jaden, Seth (Amanda), Brandt, Eli, and Emery; and great-great grandchildren, Alice and Kollyns.
A memorial service honoring Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2:00 PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Augusta, GA. The family will greet guests starting at 1:30 PM.
