Myrna Lynn Chapple's Obituary
Myrna Lynn Chapple passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on Monday January 15th, 2024 at The Fountain View Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on August 17th, 1950 in Effingham, Illinois to Richard and Delores Shaw.
Myrna is survived by her husband, Michael Chapple of Smyrna, Georgia; her daughters Misty Cowan, Mandy Cowan, Shawan Willbanks, Alexandria Chapple, Nicole Chapple, and Vanessa Chapple; her brother Mark Shaw, step-brother Chuck McCoy; and her grandchildren Elecia, Alaina, Alivia, Mason and Mya.
Myrna is remembered as a kind, gentle, patient, and loving being who always made herself available to help others in need. She was a true child-at-heart full of curiosity, wonder, innocence, and a playful approach to life. She was an active and devout member of the Burnt Hickory Church of Christ, and embodied the qualities of faithfulness, forgiveness, generosity and service. She enjoyed building relationships that brought people closer to Christ.
Myrna was a lifelong advocate, supporter and participant in civil and human rights. She worked hard to live this through her actions and choices each and every day. She had a passion for bringing people together and making beautiful connections among diversity. All who met and spent time with Myrna were influenced by her kindness, love, and joyful spirit.
Myrna loved Christian music (her favorite song is “God is Love” by the Harding University Concert Choir), 70s R&B (especially Al Green), baseball, animals, and purple flowers. She enjoyed baking and was known for her sweet potato pie.
As a family, we will celebrate Myrna’s life privately. If you desire to offer condolences with flowers, we ask instead that the money be donated to Myrna’s charity of choice, the World Wildlife Fund https://www.worldwildlife.org/ or the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/.
