Myrleen Farlow Porter's Obituary
Myrleen Parker Farlow Porter went home to be with her savior Jesus on December 31, 2025 at age 102.
A woman of deep faith and spiritual wisdom, Myrleen was a beacon of kindness to all who knew her. She is now reunited with her beloved daddy, Vernan Parker, and also her precious husband, Gordon Porter. She was also predeceased by her mother, Lela Ann Raburn, and her brothers Earle, Hoyt, baby Franklin, as well as her sisters, Myrtle, Sarah, and Lorene. She is survived by her sister Jean.
Myrleen was born in Roopville, GA, but grew up on a farm in Bowdon, GA where she helped her family grow cotton, corn and other vegetables. She went to Bowdon Primary School and Bowdon High School. In the 50’s, she moved to Austell, GA where she spent many years raising her sons.
Myrleen was a member of the Highest Praise Church of God. She had different jobs over the years, including one at a hosiery mill and another at a pharmacy that had a soda fountain. Later, after working for over 20 years for Lockheed Martin, she retired in 1997.
Full of life and joy, Myrleen loved to travel, and was always ready to go somewhere and bring food to visit someone. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
She was passionate about cooking and also loved to sing and sew. She was always thinking of the well being of others and was a mother figure to many. Myrleen had two children, Bobby and Charles. She also helped raise her grandchildren, Bobby Jr. and Lindsay.
She found her strength in Scripture and her joy in prayer, living a life that reflected the love of Christ. She is survived by her son Charles Farlow and his wife Lucy, her granddaughter Lindsay Schuman and fiancee Jared Bacon, and great grandchildren Abigail and Ethan Schuman. She is also survived by many more nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly, including one great niece that was also like a second granddaughter, Amanda Butler Strain. Services will be held at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home on January 4, 2026 at 2 PM. Interment will follow the service at Pleasant View Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be held before the service from 1-2 PM.
