Miriam Elizabeth Lloyd's Obituary
Miriam Elizabeth Lloyd, age 98, of Smyrna passed away April 12, 2020. Miriam was a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, Miriam joined the Navy and served during World War II from 1943 to the end of the war in 1945.
After the war, Miriam became a bookkeeper and worked for several companies. She then had the opportunity to become a Research Assistant in computer programming at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. Retirement wasn’t for Miriam, so at age 61, she took on the role of House Mother for several sororities. This gave her the chance to travel around the country to many difference university towns. In 1994, she moved south to Atlanta and began working at Southern Polytechnic University, where she finally retired at age 81.
Along with all of her other professions, she also served as church organist for 45 years at Bethany United Church of Christ in Oshkosh, WI.
Miriam is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Lloyd; daughter, Elizabeth Peters; brothers, Bill and Dave: and sisters, Isabelle and Patsy. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Bob) Crafts of LaPine, OR and Kathryn (Jerry) Trice of Austell; grandchildren, Roger, John, James, Matthew, Marc, Melissa, John, and William; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Oshkosh, WI.
