Michael Ray Sanderson's Obituary
Michael Ray Sanderson, formerly of Marietta, died on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from a culmination of long-standing illnesses. He was born on August 26, 1951 in Trion, GA to parents Lois Marie Pope of Summerville and William Cash Sanderson.
After graduating high school, Mike earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of West Georgia, followed by a Master’s degree in Rehabilitative Counseling from the University of Georgia, and an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Kennesaw State University. He served as a nurse for more than 30 years, working in neonatal intensive care units and with home health agencies that cared for ventilator-dependent children.
Michael is survived by his three children; Martha E. Sanderson of Marietta, Katy Sanderson Matello of Kennesaw, and William J. Sanderson of Tampa; and granddaughter, Charlotte E. Matello.
He is remembered as a loving father and grandfather that possessed a quiet wit.
