Marion F. "Crash" McGill's Obituary
Marion F. “Crash” McGill died August 24, 2011. Marion was a native Atlantan, and an avid golfer. During World War II, he served with the United States Army in the European Theatre and was in both the Normandy invasion and in the Battle of the Bulge. Crash worked for the Atlanta Fire Department for forty years. The last few years before retirement, he served as Battalion Chief at the Hartsfield International Airport Complex. There he provided fire protection for the airport complex against both crash and structure damage. He was a member of E.A. Minor Lodge. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Melba Joyner McGill. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lillie H. McGill; brother, Raymond McGill; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 2 – 5 pm. A private family graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery.
