Marion "Buddy" Oliver's Obituary
Marion R. "Buddy" Oliver, age 92 of Mableton, passed away May 21, 2023. Buddy was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church for 65 years, "Mr. Buddy" taught 2 year old Sunday School for the majority of those years. He was a Mason for more than 50 years. He retired as Vice President of Advanced Metal & Welding after 52 years of service. Buddy was a huge Braves and UGA fan, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was his family. Buddy/Pawpaw, loved nothing more than being with his family, and his sweet and silly sense of humor always made him the life of the party. He loved tearing up the dance floor at all the weddings he attended as his family continued to grow. He was dearly loved and will be so missed. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Peggy Joyce Oliver, daughter, Brenda Oliver Hall and sister, Martha Waits. Buddy is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Larry Darnell of Smyrna, Cindy and Bill Walker of Canton, Laurie and Bob Bridges of Marietta; sisters, Ellen Mayes, Marlene Krueger, and Margie Dorsey. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 2:00 pm at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randal Whitten officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service Friday from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home.
