Dr. Marion Henry Beaver's Obituary
Dr. Marion Henry Beaver, age 96, of Powder Springs, passed away January 29, 2019. Marion served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the first graduating class of Osborne High School in 1939 and was its first Valedictorian. He received a bachelor’s degree from Emory University, and his master’s and doctorate from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Beginning in 1946, Marion served as pastor of Milford Baptist Church, Petersburg Baptist Church in Petersburg Kentucky, Lithia Springs First Baptist Church, and Olive Springs Baptist Church. He retired from full-time ministry in 1988. At that time he went back to Lithia Springs First Baptist and served as the minister to Senior Adults until November 2017. During the years after his retirement he also served as interim pastor in several local churches. Marion loved serving the Lord. He was best known for tirelessly caring for the people of the churches he led. Preceding him in death are his wives, Addie Ruth Beaver and Jerry Beaver. He is survived by his children, Marc (Janice) Beaver of Marietta, Monte (Kathy) Beaver of Douglasville, Todd Beaver of Tucker, Jimmy Beaver of Helena, and Elizabeth Thomas of Powder Springs; nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 AM before the service. Interment will follow the service at Mozley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Baptist Developmental Disabilities Ministry in care of First Baptist Church of Lithia Spring, 10-531 E. Veterans Memorial Hwy, Lithia Springs, GA 30122.
