Marinan Rutherford's Obituary
RUTHERFORD, Mrs. Marinan Scott Rutherford, age 88, of Clarkdale died June 30, 2008.
Daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. Marinan Scott Rutherford performed all of these roles with great passion, love and fun. Daughter of Kate and Vincent Scott, she was born in the Big House in Austell on December 22, 1919. She fell in love with Richard Glenn Rutherford and they married on April 4, 1941. Marinan and Glenn raised 6 children in Clarkdale, GA in a beautiful home they loved and in a community they adored and never wanted to leave. Stylish and fashionable throughout her life Marinan sparkled wherever she went. A party girl at heart she was a fabulous hostess and loved to entertain in her home and people fondly remember her great parties. She loved music - especially the piano and a party just wasn't a party without her famous Sing-A-Longs. A wonderful cook, her specialty was desserts and everyone will miss her chocolate cakes and divinity. Known for volunteering, Marinan was an active member of the South Cobb community her entire life. She was a founding member of C.A.M.P., the Austell Training Center and the first Catholic church in the South Cobb area - St. John Vianney. Marinan's compassionate and caring nature touched so many people. She could always be called on to take someone in need to the doctor or to the grocery store. If any of her friends needed someone to talk to they knew who to call. Marinan's secret to a long and happy life was, "Living in a Great Big Way". She was a remarkable, amazing woman and will be greatly missed by those who were lucky enough to have known her or to have been loved by her. Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Glenn Rutherford, Marinan is survived by 3 three sons, Scott and Martha Rutherford of Chapel Hill, NC, Kirby and Beth Rutherford of Toccoa, Jimmy Rutherford of Hiram; 3 daughters, Glenna and Jimmy Kelly of Marietta, Nan and Andy Mays of Mableton, Elizabeth and Joey Terrell of Marietta.
