Marie Icilia Picart's Obituary
Marie Icilia Picart, 85, of Austell, Georgia has since passed on the 2nd of August 2025 surrounded by family.
She was born in Saint Marc, Haiti on 5th of November 1939. She was the first born out of 8 siblings.
Marie arrived in the United States in the year 1996 and worked as a nanny and care giver to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and children of friends.
Marie was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raoul Benjamin; beloved sons, Ronald and Robernard Benjamin; and beloved sister, Mme Janine Germain and brother, Odalbert Picart.
Marie, lovingly referred to as Grandma to everyone, was known for her steadfast presence and humble soul. She was a small business owner and loved working on the land. She found great joy in growing fruits and vegetables to provide for her family. She was a cornerstone in her Baptist home church in Haiti. She was a woman of faith and always ready to offer her prayer to everyone who came across her.
She is survived by her six children, Wisvick, Romain, Raymond, Reah, Yvrose Benjamin, Josue; twenty-two Grandchildren; Schnai Benjamin, Wismisha Icilia Benjamin, Tatiana Benjamin, Marie Mica Benjamin, Rossaskia Benjamin, Rovensky Benjamin, Kethany Benjamin, Itsaïna Benjamin, Marah Benjamin, Ranisha Benjamin, Elmisha Benjamin, Christaelle Raoul Benjamin, Dudley Léger, Thérésa Léger, Hilary Léger, Christian Léger, Rodolphe Charles, Via Rolanda Charles, Ralph Charles, Vladinove Benjamin, Alisha Rihanna Benjamin, Lordiana Benjamin; nine Great-Grandchildren; and two Great-Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Mme Alicia Florexil, Bruce Picart, Ernest Sergilles, Fritz Sergilles, and Mme Jean-Claude Azor. She also held a special place in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, August 15th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home on 1975 East West Connector, Austell, Georgia 30106.
A funeral service honoring Marie’s life will be held Saturday, August 16th, 10:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel.
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
