Marguerite Marie Yohannan's Obituary
Marguerite Sargis Yohannan, a long time lover of the South and Atlanta especially, died on Jan 2, 2015. She had recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She was born in 1914 in Urmia, Persia of Assyrian descent and was part of the genocide Mohammedan inflicted on Christians during the 1st World War. She was pre-deceased by her husband, William J. Yohannan, an early restaurateur at Lenox Square and manager of the Piedmont Driving Club after serving in the Navy and stationed here. She enjoyed many years in civic groups, Shriners and made many friends- a member of the Clairmont Presbyterian, Northwest Presbyterian and Wilmington Island Presbyterian churches. She is survived by her sister, Claire S. Commins and several devoted nieces and nephews. Her burial will be at Westview Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service and reception at the Presbyterian Village in Austell.
