Margie Cleo James' Obituary
Margie Cleo James, age 82, of Dallas passed away surrounded by her family January 13, 2022. Margie was born to Leslie and Earlene Stennett in Booneville, MS; but moved to the Austell area when she was 10 years old. She graduated from South Cobb High School, which her where she met the love of her life, Pierce Herman “Butch” James, Jr.
Family was the core of Margie’s life. She loved spending time with them and engaging in a good game of Scrabble. She was an avid sewer and quilter and had made many baby and wedding quilts for her family. Margie was caring, compassionate, and thoughtful, which are all traits she applied in the gentle care of her son, Joe. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed by all who loved her.
Margie was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Franklin James; mother, Earlene Stennett; and brother, Bobby Stennett. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Pierce Herman “Butch” James, Jr; children, Karen Gentry of Lithia Springs, Jeff James (wife, Tania) of Acworth, and Jerry James of Dallas; siblings, Earl Stennett (wife, Frances) of Douglasville, Alice McKenney of Monticello, FL, Carolyn Hodges of Rockmart, and Peggy Barnes (husband, Jerry) of Douglasville; grandchildren, Stephanie (husband, Justinas), Sydnie, Dylan, Miranda; and many beloved extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Hennesy officiating. Interment will follow the service at Davis Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the care and upkeep of Davis Cemetery and Chapel, care of Jan Ross, 1737 Patriots Way, Kennesaw, GA 30152.
