Margie Fay Ayers' Obituary
Margie Fay Ayers, age 79, of Mableton passed away surrounded by her family on October 17, 2022. Fay was born to Manford and Lela Little in Atlanta at Crawford Long Hospital. She was raised in the Atlanta area and attended Roosevelt High School. At 20, she married the love of her life, Jerry Ayers, and the couple moved to Mableton to begin raising a family.
Fay was involved with the Lady’s Auxillary Branch of American Legion Post 264 in Mableton, and was a dedicated supporter of the Georgia Transplant Foundation.
Fay was very musical. She played piano by ear and loved to sing and dance. She was very funny and knew how to light up a room with her jokes and pranks. While she knew how to be the life of the party, she also excelled in the quiet moments of caretaking and being compassionate towards others in need. She was humble, generous, and loyal to a fault. Fay was always in her family’s corner, no matter what. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose absence will be felt deeply, but whose memory will live on in the people she loved.
Fay is preceded in death by her parents, Manford and Lela Little; and siblings, Edward Little and Joyce Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Ayers; children, Darryl Ayers (wife, Lynn) of Royston, Michelle Helton (husband, Kyle) of Hiram, and April Tomlin (husband, Lance) of Hapeville; siblings, Catherine Rountree of Pavo, Betty Jean Lee of College Park, Hugh Little of Doraville, and Leon Little (wife, Mary) of Conley; grandchildren, Tucker (wife, Laura), Dawson, Jackson, Chandler (wife, Kailee), Grayson, Belle, Dylan, and Ashlyn; and many beloved extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Kyle Helton officiating. Entombment will occur at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a foundation that was very dear to Fay’s heart, the Georgia Transplant Foundation at https://gatransplant.org/
