Margaret Gann Bryce's Obituary
Margaret Lee Gann Bryce, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Margaret was born August 3, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia to Tommie Lee and Mary Frances Herron Gann. Raised in Jacksonville, Florida and Austell, Georgia, she was a 1955 graduate of South Cobb High School. In March 1956 she married the love of her life, Walter Bryce, and they spent 38 amazing years together until his death in 1994.
For most of her life Margaret was a homemaker and bookkeeper, working for such companies as Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation, Gas Equipment Supply Company, Viking Pump, and Patterson Lumber Company. Later in life she learned how to operate computer databases and worked doing data entry and bookkeeping for Association Management Services. Of the many jobs and duties throughout her life, her favorite titles and roles were wife, mom, and grammy.
A long-time member of the congregations at Austell Christian Church and Gresham Park Christian Church, Margaret’s faith was strong until the end.
In her spare time, Margaret loved watching sports – Atlanta Braves baseball, Auburn Tigers football, and NASCAR – gardening, and traveling.
A two-time cancer survivor, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Bryce, grandsons Samuel and Joseph Bryce, brothers Tom, Richard, and Tommy Gann, and sister Sandra Gann Kinnard. She is survived by her son Joe and his wife Amanda, grandson Wesley, granddaughter Shelby, sister Jeanine Gann Spruell, sister-in-law Jackye Gann, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends who will all miss her.
The family would like to extend thanks to the doctors and nurses at Northeast Georgia Medical Center/Northeast Georgia Physicians Group, Atlanta Family Hospice and Palliative Care, and the staff at Hamilton Mill Senior Care for their caring and support during Margaret’s last days.
Memorial donations can be made in Margaret’s name to the American Cancer Society, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, or the Spina Bifida Association.
A funeral service honoring Margaret's life will be held Thursday, June 13, 12:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Pastor Clay Henry officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mableton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and again on Thursday before the service from 11:00 to 12:00 PM.
