Marcia Tovar's Obituary
Marie Marcia Zamor Tovar was born on April 19th, 1950 to Corinne Anglade D’Haiti and Faustin Zamor in Les Cayes, Haiti. At an early age, she moved to Port-au-Prince to continue her secondary education where she graduated from college and obtained her Secretarial and Accounting Diploma.
At the age of 23, Marcia married her long-time childhood friend Jean Illy Vincent. It was her first marriage and the union produced one child: Soila Vincent. Marcia later divorced and later married Jean-Louis Maurice Tovar on January 20th, 1985; a union that produced her second child: Olivier Tovar.
In 1970, Marcia began working in the international telecommunication company, West Indies, which later became known as Teleco. Marcia was a successful department manager whose career exemplified professional ethics and the utmost dedication to the work. Marcia remained in Teleco for 35 years until her retirement.
Although retired, in the early 2006, Marcia relocated to the United States, where she began helping her sister Danielle with her healthcare business, while simultaneously assisting in the rearing of her grandchildren. Marcia enjoyed helping the elderly very much and took great joy and pride in nurturing a healthcare company that focused on providing daily support for the elderly and handicapped.
Marcia was very dedicated to her family; immediate, extended and adopted family. She went to great lengths, daily, to give unconditional love and guidance to everyone she met. The fruits of her labor are evidenced in the multitude of family and friends who carry her example in their everyday lives and work. Her nurturing spirit made her a source of wisdom and advice for many.
Like her mother, Marcia was a devout Catholic with a special fondness for the Virgin Mary and was known to often recite the Rosary until her passing. While living in Haiti, Marcia attended mass weekly and could often be found praying in her room in her personal time, a practice she continued when she moved to the States. She took great care to encourage each of her children to develop their own relationship with God.
The impact of Marcia’s life cannot be measured in words. As such, it is most accurately reflected in the personal seeds she sowed in every person she encountered. Marcia lived a very humble life. The outpouring of love she gave every day of her life is commensurate with the amount of love shown towards her in return. If Marcia was here today, she would want this love to be payed forward endlessly. Marcia is preceded in death by her father, Faustin, her mother, Corinne, her sister, Yves-Mary, and her brother, Harry. She is survived by her children: Soila and Olivier, her brother, Jean-Robert, her sisters: Aurore and Danielle, her brother-in-law, Raynald, her sister-in-law : Agnes ; her grandchildren : Sebastien, Anne-Sophie, and Corinne, her nephews and nieces: Deannah, Alexandra, Georges, Vladimir, Sorhaya, Cynthia, Stephania, Crystèle, Ronveer, Tatiana, Karl-Anthony, Kristof, Kyra, Mia, Matthis, Maliah, Alex, and Alexander; and her cousins : Andrèle and Dominique.
