Major John Elliott Coble, USAF, Retired's Obituary
Major John Elliott Coble, USAF, Retired, age 73 of Mableton, passed away June 26, 2012. Major Coble retired after 20 years service from the United States Air Force as a pilot and then he worked at Lockheed for ten years. He served several tours in the Vietnam War and he was one of the first 100 to be sent to Vietnam. An avid gardener, he also enjoyed painting and was an inventor holding a couple of patents. As his son describes him, "He was a Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, and a Spy." Surviving John are his wife of 48 years, Joanne Coble; sons & daughter-in-law, Jeffry Coble of Mableton, and Joel & Amy Coble of St. Simons Island; brothers, Frank "Buck" Coble of Mt Ulla, NC and Tom Coble of Fayetteville, NC; and his five grandchildren, Daniel, Drew, Anna, Elliott, and Reeve. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 - 8 PM. Graveside service to honor his life and final interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 9:30 AM with Rev. Alan Akridge officiating.
