Mae Long York's Obituary
Mae Long York of Mableton, Georgia passed away on March 1st, 2025 with her son by her side.
Mae was born in Austell, GA in 1930 to the late Octavia Elizabeth Aderhold and the late Robert Ervin Long.
Mae was a graduate of Mableton High School on May 23, 1947 where she served as President of her Senior Class. She played on the varsity Basketball Team from 1943 to 1947.
Upon Graduation of High School, she married the Love of her life the very next day, May 24th, 1947, to Buddy York, where they spent 77 years together.
Mae was a faithful member to Leland United Methodist Church in Mableton and Covenant Church in Smyrna. Mae Loved to sing praises to the Lord and was a devout member of the church choir for over 50 years. Mae committed her entire Life to serving the Lord, Family and Friends in all walks of her life. Mae’s skills as a Homemaker were the essence of properties that she was raised up with, which attributed to her building a legacy of Love.
Mae is survived by her son Jerry York. Mae was predeceased by her husband (Buddy)Donald E. York, her son Dennis Michael York, and daughter Cynthia Jean York. She was also predeceased by 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Survived by granddaughters Ginger Westman, Kristy Blatchley, Amber Price, Erin Johnson and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service honoring Mae's life will be held on Saturday, March 8th 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Millie Kim and Chaplain David Kenley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7th from 5-8 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
