Lynn Monteath Davis' Obituary
Lynn Monteath Davis died July 18th, 2026, in Stone Mountain at the age of 81.
The daughter of a Pan Am executive, she was born among three brothers in Rio de Janeiro and lived in various South American cities before moving to New Orleans as a child, where she would eventually come to meet and marry Ken Davis. They married and moved to the Atlanta area, where they raised two children.
She eventually earned a degree in psychology at GSU, but her roving curiosity and drive led her to further studies in computing, before it was the fashion, as well as an offbeat melange of hobbies and interests.
She was known for her dark, wry humor, and was the kind of person whose children often found their friends coming over to hang out with her whether they themselves were there or not. It is not known how much of an average issue of The New Yorker she got through before it joined the proverbial pile, but she had always read the article you wanted to discuss, and would not be beat at Scrabble.
She moved through life with an elegant grace and melancholy underpinning the humor, and did not particularly care what you thought about her—only that you were being genuine. If you were not, or found yourself imposing an imperiousness or lack of humanity upon a situation, you would possibly come to have some small cause to regret it. And if you were a stranger out in public, minding your own business anywhere near her, there was a good chance you would soon have a new friend.
She is survived by her two children, Kathryn and Andy.
