I'll be the first to share a memory of my very good friend David. In, 7th or 8th grade Floyd Jr High sponsored a trip to Six Flags. It was the first year the Scream Machine was open. They advertised it as the highest and fastest coaster in the country at the time. David and I were both nervous and excited as it clink-clink-clinked it's way to the top, then off she went! We waited till the line died down later that evening and rode it four times in a row.
David was my buddy. When we reconnected on Facebook, we stayed in touch. We chatted about his family, how much he loved Thea, his granddaughter and his simple love of his German Shepherd. I was concerned about his health following a fall and then a stroke. I never got to see him at the rehab facility like we talked about but he always had to do something or I was on my way somewhere else. David and I did eat lunch a couple of times at Wallace BBQ over the years but I'll always feel guilty I didn't see him more often. We talked the day before he passed, how I wish I had something more reassuring to say to him.
David had many friends, Robin Lee among those he mentioned the most. I suppose that was because all three of us knew each other from Elementary School thru High School. The world lost a nice guy when David passed. You are missed old friend.
