Lois Lavonne Vines' Obituary
Lois Lavonne Vines, age 84, of Austell passed away December 30, 2020. Lavonne was a lifetime member of Clarkdale Baptist. In her early years, Lavonne worked at the Marietta Daily Journal, then went on to serve 19 years as a legal secretary with the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office. After her retirement from the DA’s office, she realized she wasn’t cut out for retirement, so she became a bailiff for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.
Lavonne had a giving heart, and she always had a bed and a hot meal ready for anyone that needed it. She loved her church and was a social butterfly, always inviting friends over for post-church meals. She loved to shop and go out with her friends. Her Christmas’s were always shared with not just family, but friends as well.
Lavonne is preceded in death by her parents, Miles Bentley and Era Maude Newbern; all of her siblings; and husband, William D. “Bill” Vines. She is survived by her children, James Stephen (Linda) Vines of Cumming, William Gregory Vines of Austell, and Thomas Scott (Jeannie) Vines of Powder Springs; grandchildren, Ronnie Vines, Don Stephens, Stephanie (Charlie) Bailey, Heather (Wayne) Key, Alicia (Jesse) Todisco, Hollie (Ralph) Elks, William Thomas Vines, and Kristin Allison; 17 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; many beloved extended family members; and 12 kids she babysat that were dear to her heart.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4th, 2:00 PM at Clarkdale First Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Hooper and Rev. Danny Newbern officiating. She will Lie in State from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service. Interment will follow the service at Powder Springs City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Clarkdale First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lavonne’s funeral fund at https://www.gofundme.com/f/lois-lavonne-vines-funeral-fund.
