Leo Douglas Heimendinger's Obituary
Leo Douglas Heimendinger was born March 19, 1930 in Brookings, South Dakota. He was the youngest and only surviving children of Russell and Mayme Heimendinger. His three brothers have preceded him in death. He married Carol Claussen and had 4 children, Dawn Marie, Wade James, Thad Christopher, and Jed Eric. On May 27, 1983, he married Grace Steinhorst. Now the family includes his 4 children, her 4 children, and together they have 23 grandchildren and great grandbabies still coming! Leo taught school for many years; 1 year at Welcome, MN, more than 30 in Truman, MD, 2 years in Blue Eye, MO, and for a short time in Baxite, AR. He spent many years working with the Boy Scouts, and working in various ministries. Leo served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Lampe, MO. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Powder Springs. Leo will be greatly missed by his survivors, which include his wife, Grace; children, Dawn Heimendinger, Wade Heimendinger, Thad Heimendinger, Jed Heimendinger; and all the grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 19, 2:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Baptist Church of Powder Springs in support of the Cambodian Orphanage.
