Leland Terry Cargile's Obituary
Leland “Terry” Cargile, 74, of Mableton, GA, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2015.
Terry was born on May 10, 1941 in Fayette, Alabama. He was a graduate of Birmingham Southern University in 1963 and after graduation, he served in the Army Reserves before moving to Atlanta in 1973 where he resided until his passing.
As a loyal husband, father, and grandfather, Terry’s true passion and joy were his family. His walls were filled with pictures of his children, grandchildren, extended family and his best friend and wife, Marie. Terry always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell; he enjoyed making others laugh. Terry also loved children and animals, especially his beloved Chihuahuas, Dexter and Scooter. He had a gentle, loving, generous, and kind spirit that will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Terry was a member of Vinings Lake Church and very much enjoyed the fellowship he shared with his church family. He would have been truly honored to see all of the outpouring of love, prayers, and support that came from the members of his church community in his passing.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Marie Seay-Cargile, his son, Richard Cargile, his daughter, Leslie McIver, his grandsons, Jim Cargile (16 years), Alexander Stewart McIver ( 9 years), and Miles Robert McIver (7 years), his favorite aunt Elizabeth Clark, his brother-in-laws, Kenneth Wade and Michael Stewart, and many cousins and friends. His son-in-law, Robert McIver, his daughter-in-law, Tomoe Cargile, and his stepson and his fiancé, Don Agee and Mary Howell, also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Cargile, his father, Leland H. Cargile, his sister, Elizabeth Cargile Wade, and his first wife, Jeanine Stewart Cargile.
A Memorial Service to honor Terry will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Vinings Lake Church in Mableton, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Terry’s honor to Vinings Lake Church located at 75 Cooper Lake Road, Mableton, GA 30126 (770) 941-8533 [email protected]
