LeGrand "LL" Blackwell's Obituary
Mr. LeGrand Lee Blackwell of Mableton passed away on November 29, 2011 at the age of 80. He was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, and was retired as a barber and owner/operator of Blackwell Barber Shop. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Little Rock, SC, coached Little League, was a Boy Scout leader, and was a former deacon in several churches. LeGrand is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Blackwell; children, LeGrand & Maria Blackwell, Jr. of Atlanta, Valeri Blackwell of Mableton, Rev. John & Kathe Blackwell of Chicago, Vikki Blackwell of Atlanta, and DeNise Patrick of Chicago; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Antonio. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM with officiants, Dr. Randal Whitten and Rev. John Blackwell. He will lie in-state from 12 - 1 PM. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Baptist Cemetery.
