Larry Searight Kelly's Obituary
Larry Searight Kelly, age 77, of Austell, Georgia went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2021. He passed very peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Larry was courageous in his battle with End-Stage Renal Disease.
Larry was born and lived his younger years in Pennsylvania, and he later moved with family to St Petersburg, FL; graduating from Dixie M. Hollins High School. He then entered the 5-year Electrical Apprenticeship program, while working full time, to become a Journeyman Electrician, and served in that position for 45 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Ellsworth Kelly; brothers Terry, Jim, and Jack Kelly. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Wanda G Kelly; children Ron (Dona) Kelly, and Ashley (Alex) Kell; grandchildren Rylan, Gracyn, Celestine, and Oliver; siblings Ken (Cheryl) Kelly, Mary Kay Maker, and many nieces and nephews. Larry’s deep, abiding, and committed love of faith, family, and friends was always evident as he was loved and respected by all who knew him. Always willing to help anyone in need, he never met a stranger and cared genuinely for people. He loved the outdoors and was always busy tinkering and building something. An avid automotive and NASCAR racing enthusiast, he loved to build and race his own cars. He was a member of Faith Community Church; serving on many committees and involved in many church community activities. He so loved music and enjoyed singing in the choir. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 3:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM before the service.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 31, 1:00 PM CST at Little Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Fort Deposit, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Larry’s name to either Faith Community Church, 305 N Burnt Hickory Rd, Douglasville, GA 30134 or Medstar Transportation Services, Attn: Larry Kelly Fund, 1375 Pritchett Industrial Blvd, Austell, GA 30168.
For anyone wishing to view the service virtually, a live stream link will be available on Larry's Tribute Page at the above-listed service time.
