La'Ron Dion Shepherd's Obituary
Laron Dion Shepherd, lovingly known as “Rocky” or “King,” departed this life on March 14, 2026. Born on January 23, 1978, in Washington, DC, raised in Cleveland, Ohio,
Laron was a man of strength and steady presence.
Laron gave his life to God at a young age and was a member of Give God All the Glory Ministries. He did not need to be loud to be felt—his love, his loyalty, and his spirit spoke for him. He carried himself with a calm resilience, the kind of strength that showed up in the way he cared, protected, and remained present for the people he loved.
To know Laron was to know what it meant to be checked on, to be thought of, to be loved without condition. Family was not just important to him—it was everything. He made it a point to call, to reach out, to make sure everyone was okay. His love was consistent, intentional, and deeply rooted.
Above all, his daughter, Lareca Latrice Shepherd, was his heart. She was his world, his greatest joy, and the light that gave his life deeper meaning. The bond they shared was unbreakable, a love that will continue beyond this life.
Laron was born to his loving mother, Gloria Lewis, and raised by her and Joe Lewis Sr. (who preceded him in death). Their care and foundation helped shape the man he became. He worked faithfully at Walmart, where he was known for his dependability and dedication. He showed up, helped others, and carried himself with integrity.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Lareca Latrice Shepherd; his mother, Gloria Lewis; his siblings, Lareca Shepherd, Latrice Spencer, and Joseph Lewis Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Laron will be remembered not only for his strength, but for the way he loved— consistently, and deeply. Though his voice may be still, his presence will echo through the lives he touched, in every call remembered, every moment shared, and every life he poured into. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16
Though we grieve his passing, we hold onto the promise of everlasting life, finding peace in knowing that love never ends—it simply changes form.
A memorial service honoring La'Ron's life will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Dr. Farren Roper officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 AM.
