Kenneth Hood's Obituary
Kenneth Hood was born to the late J.T Hood and Blanche
Hood on a cold rainy January morning in the town of Washington Ga, in the
county of Wilkes.
Kenneth was mechanically inclined at an early age. One of his great loves
includes hot flatheads and black 34’ Fords. After high school graduation,
Kenneth joined the Air Force reserves and was assigned to the maintenance
division. Kenneth was a Nascar certified mechanic in 56’ with the Flock
Brothers.
In 1962 Kenneth founded Kenneth Hoods Garage in Austell GA. Today this
is the oldest business in the city of Austell. Kenneth got his love for free
masonry from his father J.T Hood. One of his oldest memories he talked about
was cleaning the spittoon of the old Springville lodge in Powder Springs.
Kenneth was raised to the sublime degree of master mason in 1959. He
served as worshipful master at Springville lodge in 1962. Kenneth was
humbled to receive his 65th year masonic apron in January 2025. He was also
a member at the Sweetwater Shrine club.
Kenneth had a love of old-time music and could often be found with a
Martin guitar in his hands. He was certified Luther with Martin Guitar Co. And
was inducted into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009. Kenneth
had the pleasure of playing music with many great singers and pickers across
the southeast. Kenneth even had a brief stent in Hollywood with cameos in
Movin’ On and Smoky and the Bandit.
Kenneth Hood is preceded in death by his parents J.T Hood and Blanche
Hood, sister Margret Bookout and nephew Wes Bookout. He is survived by his
niece Bennea Steed (Tommy) of Dallas along with many friends.

To sum it up we have hit high notes, but we could have written a damn
book on the life and legacy of Mr. Kenneth J. Hood. It was a privilege to work
with you, learn from you, and later in life care for you. Your legacy will live on
through those that were lucky enough to share in your life.
