Judy Monique Claybrook's Obituary
Judy Monique Claybrook, 65, of Mableton, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Alexander City, Alabama on October 24, 1958. Judy graduated from Benjamin Russell High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Auburn University in 1981. Judy remained a staunch War Eagle her entire life.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce Laster Claybrook and James Coley Claybrook, Sr., and her brother, Jerry Wayne Claybrook. She is survived by her brother, James (Linda) Coley Claybrook, Jr. of Alexander City, AL; sister-in-law, Kathleen McCutcheon Claybrook of Pelham, AL; two nieces: Starla (Mark) Belfast, Tallahassee, FL, Lori (Marc) Johnson, Birmingham, AL; two nephews: John (Diana) Claybrook, Auburn, AL., and Colin (Abby) Claybrook, Ramer, AL; and seven great nieces and nephews.
Judy had a long, successful Human Resources Compensation career that began with twenty years with the Russell Corporation. Following Russell Corporation, she held positions in the Cobb County School District, and the Fulton County School District. Judy enjoyed contributing to the lives of Fulton County District employees through several years of service on the District Wellness Committee. Judy joined Toastmasters International in 2018 and served as Division Director during the latter years of her membership.
Family was very important to Judy. She cherished her time spent with her immediate family, nieces and nephews, and her late cousin Mark Claybrook. She was a kind, funny and passionate person who was loved by all who knew her.
Judy deeply enjoyed the friendships she developed with many of her co-workers and their families over the years. With all of Judy’s family living out of state, these relationships were especially meaningful to her. Although Judy had no children, she had several feline fur babies over the years (Sheba, Chowsky, Gypsy, and Keiko) that also brought her immeasurable pleasure and comfort and were truly her family.
Funeral arrangements will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell, GA. The visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm and the service will be at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to send contributions to a feline rescue organization, Fancy Felines, at https://www.fancyfelinerescue.org/donate.htm or the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org
