SGT. Byrd was a great guy , he was my recruiter and he was the nicest guy ever I just got out of training and was going to visit him and I just heard the news it hit all of us that we're recruited by him very hard but he was the coolest and nicest person I've met
When you find a young man that still has the old way of doing things and the respect for his elders is very rare, that was Josh. My heart is very heavy today because today I found out that he is no longer here, his time in my life was some of the best times, and I want his mother and family to know I will never forgot them and I will never forget Josh .Coach Owens
You were like a son and the best friend that my son has ever had. He considers you a brother. Lana our heart felt condolences go out to all of you. We just found out while at Thanksgiving dinner so please accept our sincerest apology for not being there.
We will continue to pray that you come through this understanding that he in Heaven and watching over his mother. He is still remembered fondly in Northern Va and do be proud because he made his mark and represented everything you instilled in him well.

My deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers go out to the Byrd family. Josh was a beautiful spirit and I'm blessed to have known him. I take comfort in thinking of the happy times we shared. Although he is absent from our sight he is ever present in our hearts and minds.
It took me a few days to write this because my heart is broken. I knew something was wrong when I received the call. I am at such a loss and I know God has a plan even if we do not always understand. Joshua and you all will forever be our family no matter how near or far. Lana and Roderick there is a special place in my heart and prayers for you both. But as we say in the Navy, Rest Joshua because we have the watch.
