Joseph Douglas Heslep's Obituary
Joseph Douglas Helsep passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Helena, Arkansas on May 6, 1946 to the late Margaret “Peggy” White Heslep and Douglas Saint Heslep.
Joe earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas where he met his future wife, Lacy, while driving several sorority sisters to church. Joe and Lacy married on August 30, 1969 in Golden City, Missouri. Joe was employed for many years with the FDIC, which brought Joe and his family from Tennessee, to Oklahoma, to Massachusetts, and eventually to Georgia.
Joe lived out his Christian faith by raising his children in the Episcopal church, never meeting a stranger he was not willing to help, and selflessly serving his family, friends, and community. He enjoyed playing tennis, cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals, and most of all supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their athletic and musical endeavors. He absolutely adored dogs and will be missed dearly by his final devoted pup, Lucy.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Lacy; his son, Doug Heslep (Jacqui); daughter, Lynleigh Richwine (Winters); and grandchildren, Brooke & Grace Heslep and Sam & Margaret Richwine. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Peggy.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Best Friends Animal Society at https://bestfriends.org.
