Joseph Russell Garner's Obituary
Joseph Russell Garner, age 83, of Powder Springs passed away May 30, 2017. Joseph was a member and deacon at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Verlene Garner; brothers, Junior and Billy; sisters, Bobbie and Mary; son-in-law, Perry Nash; and step-mother, Ruby Garner. Joseph is survived by his wife of 56 3/4years, Charlyn Garner; daughters, Judy (Gary) Barnes of Dallas, and Karen (Randy) Flowers of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Joel Nash, Jared Nash, Hunter Barnes, Michayla Barnes, Bradley (Ashley) Flowers, Beth Flowers, and Blake Flowers; and great grandson, Beau Flowers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 11:00 AM at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Randal Whitten officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of your choosing. He retired from Georgia Power after 32 years of service. He was definitely a man that showed unconditional love. No matter the situation he was always giving a supported response. He loved playing golf. He was always there for his children and grandchildren.
