Johnny David Bragg's Obituary
Johnny David Bragg, age 83, beloved father, friend, and public servant, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025.
David was born to Homer Bragg and Lula Elizabeth Brooks Bragg in Atlanta, and he spent his formative years growing up in the city. In 1967, he and his family moved to Smyrna. It was in 1969 when David began his career as a firefighter. Serving primarily at Cobb County Fire Station No. 1 in Mableton, David dedicated 27 years of service to the fire department. He was an integral part of their team and knew Cobb roads better than anyone.
In his retirement, David liked to keep busy. He enjoyed drag racing and operated his own business painting homes, churches and other businesses, sometimes donating his talents to those in need. He was an adept pool player, often frequenting the local American Legions, and had even played competitively in Las Vegas.
While he was unable to attend recently, David was a long-time member of Smyrna Second Baptist Church.
David was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Doug; and sisters, Betty and Jean.
He is survived by his children, Robert Clinton Bragg of Mableton and Samantha Carol Bragg of Dallas; long-time partner, Leann Pickens; and several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A funeral service honoring David’s life will be held Saturday, January 18th, 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Farren Roper officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
For anyone wishing to view the service virtually, a livestream link will be available at the above-listed service time on David’s Tribute Page at www.davisstruempf.com
