John Wesley Vinyard, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. John Wesley Vinyard Jr. of Mableton, Georgia passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, after battling brain stem cancer. He was 65 years old.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Vinyard Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Vinyard; sons, John W. Vinyard III (Beth) of Roswell and Jason W. Vinyard of Kennesaw; granddaughter, Jordan A. Vinyard of Roswell; and grandsons, John W. Vinyard IV and Garrett T. Vinyard of Roswell. He is also survived by his mother, Gladys Bea Vinyard of Douglasville; sisters, Linda (David) Conner of Summerville, Eunice Vinyard of Summerville and Sue (John) Carman of Douglasville; brothers, Terry (Gail) Vinyard of Hiram, Jerry (Kathy) Vinyard of Summerville, David (Diane) Vinyard of Dallas and Scottie (Sherry) Vinyard of Lafayette; and many nieces and nephews.
John Vinyard was born on June 11, 1950 in Trion, Georgia to John and Bea Vinyard. He graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelors of Science in Information Systems. John was a former teacher at Norton Park Elementary School and North Metro Technical College. He rose to the rank of Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and served from October 27, 1969 until September 7, 1973.
John was a loving husband, dad and granddad. He loved spending time with his family and going to the beach. He was a big fan of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 11:00am at Davis Struempf Funeral Home in Austell. Rev. Chip Wilson will officiate the service, and David Vinyard will provide the eulogy. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 9-11 at the funeral home. Interment will be immediately after the service at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.
