John Terry Simmons' Obituary
John Terry Simmons, age 90 of Smyrna passed away on April 19, 2026.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, John was raised in a loving home by his parents, Vincent and Maggie Morris. He was a remarkable man who was extremely proud of his military service in the Air Force which spanned over a decade. While serving in the military, John distinguished himself by inventing a vital component for aircraft radar systems. John enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Grumman Aerospace, where he took immense pride in his contributions to the E2-C Hawkeye Program.
His career was marked by significant innovation, most notably his invention of a magnetic inspection mirror, which remains a testament to his technical expertise. His hands-on skill and sharp intellect exemplified his commitment to excellence.
John’s world revolved around his family and was a devoted provider and compassionate caregiver for his mother. He cherished his family, especially his beloved wife, Corinne. He was a devoted son, father, and grandfather. He had a special place in his heart for his three precious grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, James Philip Jones, Sr. and Esperanza Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Corinne; children, Craig Simmons, Andrea Simmons (Raymond Butts), and Beth Matthews (Jason); and his cherished grandchildren, Krysta, Kylie, and Maggie. He is also fondly remembered by a host of beloved cousins and extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28th 11:00 AM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Father Sunny Poovathumkudy officiating. Interment will follow the service at Georgia National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday from 10-11 AM.
