John Grady Moore's Obituary
John Grady Moore, age 89, of Dalton, formerly of Austell, passed away August 31, 2018. Grady was born and raised in Austell, GA. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany and retired as a Marta bus driver in Atlanta after 36 years. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Mableton, GA. Grady enjoyed reading his Bible and was an avid and talented gardener. He also enjoyed horseback riding. Grady was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Margie Holder Moore; parents, Jesse Issac and Mary Roberts Moore; siblings and their spouses, Catherine (D. W.) Sanders, Frances (Raymond) Hamil, Marvin (Betty) Moore, Sara (Ronald) Myers, Ruth (Bob) Mize, Jane (Roy) Jordan, and Doyle Moore; and sister-in-law, Faye Fuller. Grady is survived by his children, David Moore, Doug Moore, Janet (Jim) Miller; his children’s mother, Frances Doby King; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeffrey) Arthur, Trey Miller (Madison Flowers), Justin Moore, Katie Miller, John Moore, Jared Moore; great grandchildren, Makala, Madison, and Hudson Arthur, Bradley Todd, and Riley Miller; special niece, Allison Law; brothers-in-law, Lewis Holder, Rick (Susan) Holder, Jack Fuller; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 1:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Wilkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 PM before the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the caregivers at Tranquility Assisted Living and Reflections Memory Care Unit, Dalton, GA.
