John “Richard” Curry, age 90 of Smyrna passed away April 12, 2023. Richard was a member of Mars Hill Community Church, Powder Springs. He also was a regular guest at Martin’s on Austell Road which his family fondly referred to it Read Obituary
Richard was always cheerful, loving, a little mischievous, and great fun to be around. My daughters truly loved him.
We once vacationed with Richard and his family. As our kids were playing in the pool, the kids convinced my youngest daughter to jump off the diving board. Of course, she couldn't swim! Uncle Richard dove in to save her. He was fully clothed and was even wearing shoes! Every time Uncle Richard told the story, he smiled and laughed and talked about the new watch Ralph bought him to replace the one he was wearing during the great rescue!
Though I haven't been able to see him much over the past few years, I think of him often and I loved his wife, Geraldine, like a sister.

Uncle Richard was a fun-loving, caring, and kind person! My thoughts are with you during this sad time.
I will never forget him giving me my first sip of beer as a young girl. He convinced me it would taste like apple juice! After I swallowed, the look on my face gave my dad and Uncle Richard a great laugh!
Richard was an encouragement to everyone who ever had the privilege of meeting him. I am in awe of his drive to live! And, he certainly made the most of his 90 years.
I remember a specific time our travel team had an afternoon ballgame in Milton and traffic was awful. I’ll never forget seeing granddaddy there when many of the parents couldn’t make it. He just loved the game of baseball, but more importantly, people.
You will be missed Richard, thank you for sharing your life with us!
