Joe Edward Nichols' Obituary
Joe Edward Nichols, age 71 of Atlanta (Hiram), Georgia, passed away on April 20, 2023.
Joe was born November 22, 1951 in Greenville, Mississippi to his parents Joe T. Nichols and Mary Inez Robison Dean. He spent a few short years in Mississippi before his family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas where he attended school in the Grand Prairie independent school system. He began his career with Collection Control in 1972 in Dallas, Texas and then moved to Accounts Management Corporation in 1974 where he moved progressively up the ladder in management. In 1983 he moved his family to Atlanta, Georgia to take over the general manager's position of the Atlanta branch. Joe successfully grew the branch both in revenue and client base all while assisting in merging the branch into what would become CSC Credit Services. The highlight of his career was when he branched off in 1993 and opened his own collection agency, Quantum Credit Services, with his long-time friend and partner where they ran together a prosperous and well-respected collection agency until 2000. Joe finished his long and rewarding career with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) as a manager of the Patient Financial Services division where he retired in 2010. Joe was a member of AGPAM, HFMA, and ACA during his career.
Joe had many loves including camping, boating, motor homing, traveling, and whitewater rafting. His travels blessed him with visits to many beautiful places including numerous National Parks and travel out West. Joe also loved going to New Smyrna Beach, FL and the farms in Rushville, IN with his wife Ann where they shared many happy times and made lots of memories. He prided himself on being a master mechanic through the years and was always willing to assist a family member or friend in fixing something. Joe's most cherished loves and his finest legacies are his children and grandchildren, all of whom he loved with his entire heart and soul and he relished time spent with all his favorite nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Joe is survived by his wife of 21 years, Ann Ashley Nichols; daughter, Jo Ann Nichols Warman; daughter, Lacretia Nichols Ingram (Kevin); son, Charles Joseph Nichols (Jamie); grandchildren, Madison Ingram Robinson (Christopher), Austin Tyler Ingram, Grayson Bradley Ingram, Jacey Lue Nichols, Julianna Marie Nichols; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Grace Ingram; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws throughout the Southeast.
Joe was predeceased in death with the passing of his brother, Charlie Mack Nichols; mother, Mary Inez Robison Dean; his father Joe T. Nichols; sister, Margaret Ann Nichols; brother, Steven Mitchell Nichols; sister, Linda Nichols Hallmark.
Arrangements and service is being handled by Davis-Struempf Funeral Home & Crematory, 1975 East West Connector, Austell, GA 30106 with the memorial service to be held on Monday, April 24, 2023. The family will receive friends for visitation at 1:30 PM with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM.
